The circus that is the Mountain Bike World Cup has already kicked off with Round One taking place last month in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Round two is now only three weeks away in North Yorkshires own Dalby Forest, near Pickering. For the second year in a row British Cycling get to play host to one of the biggest events in the Mountain Biking calendar, last year they pulled it off with a bang, this year will only be better.
The weekend will get underway on the Friday evening with the legendary Pro Sprint-Eliminator through the streets, steeps and gardens of Pickering.
On the Saturday the action will move 5 miles up the road to Dalby Forest, which features some of the best man made cross country riding in Britain, through the dense, step sided, forest valley. Saturday kicks off with the Junior men and Women followed by the Under 23 Men, on a great, spectator friendly course. Sunday morning will see the elite women take to the course and the afternoon will be dominated by the elite men.
I’ll be back at this years events, squatting in a patch of heather somewhere, or at the bottom of a muddy drop, photographing the action as it unfolds and then as the dust settles in North Yorkshire, our attention will turn to the North, for the Fort William leg… See you there!
