The hardest thing about adventure photography, is getting the camera out of the bag. All to often you are in amazing places, with stunning views, light to die for, or athletes pushing the boundaries, but your camera is safe inside your bag, which is firmly on your back. Stopping to take it off, dig out the camera and find the right lens is not an option. But carrying your camera out of the bag as you run, ride, climb or walk is not always as easy and straight forward as we would like. So back in the summer when heard about the new brand Peak Design and their Capture device on Kickstart, I was instantly interested. The Capture Pro and the Pro Pad arrived a couple of days ago and so far looks very well made and up to the job it claims.
The Capture is designed to enable you to easily carry your camera everywhere. It attaches to belts, rucksack straps and others to give you a secure and easily accessible fixing point for your camera, using a universal Arca-plate, which is compatable with many tripod heads. Fitted to the camera it feels no different to any other tripod plate, but then the you can quickly attach it to the clamp and let go…Walking around the studio it feels very comfortable, the camera is handy and can be realised one handed to shot. Obviously the main test will come using it outside, in the hills when biking and climbing… That will come in the next few days…
