I made the long trip from the North East to Pembrokeshire in the South-west of Wales to photograph Ironman Wales. The Ironman is a triathlon race organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bike ride and a marathon 26.2-mile (42.2 km) run, raced without a break. Ironman events have a strict time limit of 17 hours to complete the race and 140.6 miles. Starting on Tenby beach at 7:00am, the swimmers have 2 hours 20 minutes before the cut off. Then it’s on the bike and cycling through the Pembrokeshire countryside, the bike cut off time is 5:30pm, and all finishers must complete their marathon by midnight, which ends high up on the cliff top’s above the sea on the Tenby Promenade.
